Bassist and composer Clemens Rofner presents a new iteration of CLERQ. What began as a conceptual studio project has evolved into a high-intensity quartet that bridges the gap between structured minimalism and club-oriented energy.
The music is a direct consequence of Rofner’s decade-long immersion in contrasting musical worlds. His history as a sideman—navigating the precision of chamber music, the rhythmic complexity of contemporary jazz, and the raw textures of alternative pop—acts as the blueprint for CLERQ – it isn’t a stylistic fusion, but a distillation: the band utilizes the driving pulse of a classic rhythm section to propel cinematic effects, and minimal soundscapes.
The current lineup features Max Dornauer (guitar), Sebastian Schneider (keys), and Tobias Steinberger (percussion). Together with Clemens Rofner (bass/composition), the ensemble delivers a performance that is as much a visceral physical experience as it is a calculated musical statement.
