A jazz legend, a one of a kind saxophone player, composer, nominee for the Lithuanian National prize for culture and arts – Vladimiras Čekasinas. His unique personality and talent is still felt through all of the jazz artist generations he has thought.
In 1979 V. Čekasinas gathered, the ingenious percussionist Gediminas Laurinavičius, the virtuoso keyboard player Olegas Molokjedovas, and Leonidas Šinkarenka who played bass, to form the Vladimiras Čekasinas quartet. They started rehearsing together and soon went on touring, which led to their most successful project – Nostalgy.
Their last show took place in 2011, at the Hermitage in Saint Petersburg. But this year, during the 20th „Nida Jazz Maratonas” there will be once in a lifetime chance to see the quartet play once more. The show for the festival was named „Probably never again“. The artists have prepared an extended playlist, during which you’ll have the chance to hear each member perform solos.
